Full Review:
Trull Brook is a worthwhile course at a decent price. Especially if you live north of the city, getting to Trull Brook is easy to get to also. The course overall is a pretty nice experience with some fairly straightforward golf holes.
The Good
- Low key and pleasant atmosphere. It is refreshing when compared to the greens fee collection collection machine feel of other higher end courses.
- Close to 93 and 495
- Pretty well maintained, good traps, smooth greens, generally good lies in fairways (I landed in a couple divots in the fairways but what can you do?)
- Some interesting holes on varied terrain
The Bad
- OB all over the course. A couple holes have one-way OB stakes. I actually think that doesn't conform to the rules of golf. For instance, hitting from 17 onto number 5 is considered In other cases, drop offs along the water are marked as OB rather than water. In general, I think OB should only be along the outside bounds of the course and never on the interior.
- Several strange right angle holes: numbers 1 and 5 only require 150 and 140 yards off the tee respectively, but leave you with a longer second shot.
- Some of the holes, especially 10-12, have a golf on a farm feel.
- The cart paths get into some strange places and can lead to weird bounces. For instance, on number 10, the path is only a few feet from the green.
- The rough has no teeth... this could be good or bad depending on your preferences.
Other Notes
- The first green is very deep. Respect the green depth flag colors especially on that green.
- Aim to the left side of the green on number five. Everything runs down the hill.
