Full Review:

Pinehills is a great golf destination about an hour south of Boston. The facility has two 18 hole courses which are both great tests of golf. Designed by Rees Jones and Jack Nicklaus, both courses are fantastically maintained and there are no boring holes on the course. This is premium golf at a premium price, but if the costs and drive don't bother you, it is recommended.

The Good

  • Two challenging 18 hole courses with a number of spectacular holes.
  • Gorgeous layout built upon rolling hills and stiff ridges.
  • Smooth but deceptively fast greens.
  • Impeccably maintained including the nicest tee boxes I've seen in a while
  • Large practice green and range with balls included with greens fees
  • The courses incorporate many natural features of the land (although not as many as its neighbor Waverly Oaks)

The Bad

  • Like many of its neighbors, price and distance are issues when deciding to play Pine Hills
  • There are no pictures of the hole layout on either the scorecard or the signs on the tee. We had a couple surprises on holes when we realized there was a drop off or bunker that was not visible from the tee.
  • The numbered pin position system was incorrect on a number of holes

Other Notes

  • There was some debate in my group about which course is nicer: Pinehills or its neighbor Waverly Oaks. I vote for Waverly although with two courses, Pinehills may get less crowded at peak times.
